Accepting Your Present Weight When it Does Not Present a Problem
Your present weight may not be exactly what you want it to be.
But if it doesn’t present a health problem and you can still feel good when you look in a mirror, then why not focus on that instead of lamenting the pounds you have yet to lose?
People who have always been happy with their weight and have never encountered a problem with too many pounds around their midsection, or anywhere else on their bodies, don’t know what it’s like for those who have dealt with a weight issue.
Weighing too much not only affects the body but the mind as well. It can manifest itself in other ways in our lives. It can negatively affect an individual’s self-image and it can make a high level of self-confidence dip to an all time low!
If you’re on the road to successful weight loss but have run into a slight roadblock along the way then here are some ways to better appreciate the incredible person you are by getting into an attitude of gratitude about your health and your size!
The meaning behind healthy:
You want to be healthy not in a state of emaciation. Many people don’t realize the words healthy and fit are not interchangeable. You want to be both but who is it who really can say for sure what weight is a suitable for any given individual?
Are all research studies scientifically administered and the results calculated accurately? Many are but how many are not? People with a few extra pounds are not necessarily unhealthy and thin people are not necessarily healthy. Think about it.
Media messages be gone!
From the time we are young we are inundated from the media about how we must look a certain way in order to live a happy and fulfilling life. Societal messages also tell us that self-control and self-discipline is all we need to weigh the ideal weight.
This is just not true.
Many things play a role in what a person weighs. These include genetic makeup and lifestyle. Sometimes despite our best intentions we need help in reaching our weight loss goals. For example, hypnosis has been shown to be an effective means of losing weight and keeping it off because it addresses the real problem which lies in the subconscious mind.
Refuse to believe all of the societal messages that come to you from any number of avenues, be they television, the Internet, movies, magazines – pick your own poison. It’s also important to realize not everyone is meant to be the same size. Look around you. There are many different body types. Stop for a minute and ask yourself – what kind of a society puts greater value on wanting everyone to be thin as opposed to wanting everyone to be healthy?
As you lose weight or stop and start to lose weight do your best to focus on what you have as opposed to what you are lacking. Celebrate what is special about you and what you are grateful for. This shifts your energy from the negative to positive and can help to build confidence and make you feel unstoppable!
And then being the right size for you will come natural.
