Are You a Fat Head on a Thin Body?
If you’ve struggled to keep weight off then it could be because of your inner beliefs.
You could have a fat head on a thin body working against you.
Having a fat head is a belief you’ll always be fat no matter what you do or how successful you are at losing weight – the pounds will eventually all come back. And because it’s a belief you don’t even realize what’s going on because beliefs are usually engaged automatically and you don’t stop and check them unless you call them into question.
If you lose weight but still keep your large clothes in the wardrobe then this is evidence of fat head thinking – you’re not letting go of your belief about your right size.
I’ve had weight loss clients tell me this is not them. In fact they’ll argue they’re the opposite. They point to the fact they keep their thin clothes around, endorsing their view they have thin head thinking. However, when questioned further I found most still keep their fat clothes around even when they can fit into their thin clothes. Almost like “just in case I need them again” thinking. This is another example of fat head thinking.
So how do you change your fat head for a thin head? Obviously, you have to change your belief.
Changing beliefs can be challenging for people as they have to understand their preference for communicating with themselves. Some of us are visual, some feeling, and others auditory and I have a simple exercise to help determine how a person communicates their beliefs with themselves so they can begin to change their beliefs.
I touched on this subject in an earlier post in the Neuro-linguinstic Programming (NLP) series called “Change your Beliefs: Understanding How You Communicate.”
A simple exercise for identifying your preference for communicating belief and changing them will be the subject of my next post.
My weight loss hypnosis group sessions in metro-west Boston area covers many different elements of losing weight including changing your beliefs. More information on the next program can be found here.
