Be Careful When Attempting to Lose Weight Quickly!
Summer is here, most people’s favorite time of the year and you’ve so many things planned. There is a family vacation, trips to the beach, visits to family members and friends, social events, barbecues, tennis to play with your best friend, walks before bedtime and plenty of opportunities to eat foods that scream the word summer such as ice cream for one!
Uh oh… maybe you’re starting to get a little worried seeing as you’ve put on some pounds over the winter and spring you’d like to shed. What was that one thing mentioned in the previous paragraph you enjoy about summer- trips to the beach was it? You know what you need, and it is the opposite of a double scoop of chocolate chip ice cream – you need to lose weight quickly!
If losing weight as fast as possible is what you wish to do then it is essential you go about it in a safe manner as opposed to a foolish or downright dangerous one. You don’t want to sacrifice your health to lose any number of pounds.
With that said, rapid weight loss is something that can be accomplished. Don’t beat yourself up if you have some weight to lose however. Are you aware your rate of metabolism has an impact on the weight you are? It does. Not everyone’s metabolic rate is the same. Those who have a slower level of metabolism have a more difficult time losing weight because more fat is stored. There are other people who suffer from hormonal imbalances. All of these factors can influence your body’s ability to shed pounds.
Drink six to eight glasses of water a day. In particular you should start each morning with a glass of water. This helps to jumpstart your metabolism. Water is not only good for you when it comes to losing weight but the body loses water constantly and therefore needs to replenish it often.
Always eat your supper four to five hours before you go to bed so it has time to digest properly and will not just lie there in your stomach. Make sure your meals are as healthy as possible. Aim for consuming as many organic and locally grown foods as you can. As well you don’t want any calories from your last meal of the day to be stored as fat.
Incorporate walking for exercise into your day-to-day routine. Start with a 20 minute walk every day and work up to a 45 to 60 minute walk. A walk in the evening to unwind is an excellent way to conclude the day. If your schedule does not allow you the time to take a long walk all at once then you may want to take two short mini walks throughout the day instead.
Don’t eat junk food or fast food! These foods are fatty, fried and loaded with sodium. This isn’t what you want if you want to be ready for those pleasurable trips to the beach this summer! As well steer clear of any type of soda pop and instead drink water. Soft drinks contain nothing but empty calories and have no nutritional value whatsoever. Soft drinks and other similar beverages can pack on an average of 15 to 16 extra pounds a year.
