Here's another good info about probiotics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neHbUI2JiPw We see that it's available in foods such as yogurt and kefir, but personally I'd still choose homemade yogurt and kefir simply because at least I know the ingredients of the homemade one. Other yogurt just seems too sugary for me.

Hi Becca,
I was hoping I could hook up with a hypnotist that might be able to help me. I am a long time runner and historically, I always have a problem at the start of a race. I will be doing the Mt. Washington Road Race on the 18th., my 11th. attempt. I have a real hang up with this race especially primarily because it is 7.6 miles and all uphill. I'm already in a very negative, defaetist mode when the race starts. My legs feel weak and I never feel I'm going to finish (but I always do). I'm not looking to break a course record only to do what I know I'm capable of doing. I'd love to see what I can do without that monkey on my back. Thanks for any help you can provide. I live in Marlboro.

I just had to respond to his blog --- I am a Certified Master Hypnotherapist and have been working with smokers for the past 22 years. It never fails to amaze me, even after all these years, how someone can come into my office a heavy smoker, and walk out never even wanting another cigarette ever again! It can truly be amazing. But the article is correct that it does not work for everyone. For best results, a person has to want to stop smoking and be committed to changing some lifestyle behaviors. From my research and experience, Hypnosis is one of the most effective, quick, clean and inexpensive methods to stop smoking. You can look up my website at www.DianeEdwards.com

My dad has smoked for 55 or 60 years. When we get together for a family meal, he has to heat his plate up in the oven and also microwave all of his food. This is apparently what is now required, in order to taste (and also incorporate smell into) what he is eating, after damaging his taste buds for so long.

Hi Jan,

I assume you're talking about the therapy generally as I'm not currently offering the service so can't provide any metrics. The only information I have on the therapy generally is what I published in the blog post. Your questions are valid and I hope to have more details about success rates in the next few weeks.

Thank you for your comments John. For those that don't know who John is, he is the originator of the Hypno-Band therapy. I must admit in the U.S. the marketing of the therapy is limited, but I will be sure to check into it further and provide more information on it in a later blog post. I have already removed any reference to NHS on my web site in connection with any hypnotherapy on weight loss.

While Martin and Marion Shirran were indeed the original developers of gastric band hypnotherapy, by far the most used method is the Hypno-Band withover 325 Licensed Practitioners in 14 countries. The Hypno-Band is the world leader in this type of therapy and has helped may hundreds of clients world-wide at a fraction of the cost of other methods, typically around £300 to £%00 in the UK. Just to note that "virtual gastric band" therapy is NOT approved by the NHS in UK and is only available privately.

Margaret,

Thank you so much for your comments on the article. You're an inspiration to us at Smoke Free At last. I showed your comments to our staff here. You're so right that each of us needs to take our health in our own hands and recover both our hearts and lungs. Please keep up the advocacy work you're doing. I look forward to hearing from you again and your help and support of others quitting.

Many thanks for sharing.

I am an ex-smoker on a mission to help others to quit smoking and help with their recovery and though the help we get from one-to one support is really helpful, i think that we quiters need to be told that we need to play a big part in the recovery of our bodies through diet and our lungs through exercise. No one told/warned me about the wierd breathing, the unexpected urges to breathe very deeply and sometimes not being able to. I figured out for myself that i had to help my lungs to relax without that filthy chemical which is added to the cigarettes to make them do so and realised that breathing exercises were the answer and as that was some long time ago when i did not have a lap-top, i devised my own through common sense but your tips are a great suport for folk and already i have told my sister to look you up as she is having problems too and as she is a recent "stopper" she is at a bad place re her breathing.

Thank you! I quit smoking in Nov. 08 and although my doctor says my lungs are clear and I have no issues with any lung diseases (surprising after smoking for 35+years!), I can feel my lung capacity isn't what it should be. I just bought an elliptical machine so I think I'll start using it every day instead of every other day.

Hi John,

Your taste should begin to return just a few weeks after quitting. It will be gradual though.

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your comment. I focus its use at the moment to help them control their cravings. I teach them tapping on their wrists whenever they crave a cigarette. They take to it easily but I'm not promoting it to smokers in other aspects at the moment. It's also relevant for my weight loss clients as well and this is where there's an opportunity to explore more as they're usually multi-session programs.

Great to see EFT being used for smoking. How do you clients take to it. Do they apply it to all aspects of their life?

Glad you enjoyed the article Jerry. I try hard to write about hypnosis in terms most people will understand and can relate to, realizing that most visitors are not therapeutic professionals.
