When it comes to nutition I make not apology for being opinionated. The food pyramid supported by the government and used as a basis for many nutition counselling is dead and in some instances bad advice. Turn the food pyramid on its head and you may be closer to a diet more healthy than the pyramid promotes.
The food industry is responsible for our glut of obesity in America and beyond its shores. Processed foods, and the trend towards bad carbohydrahates has taken us down the path towards our current issues. Now we need to get back to a diet that worked fine for thousands of years for our ancestors and before the birth of agriculture.
I've included some article resources here that'll help you get back to a reasonable diet. As always you need to find what works for you as no one diet works for everybody.
If you decide to seek the help of a professional nutritionist ensure they're not advocating a "one-size fits all" diet plan for you, and ensure they recognize the issues of the current food pyramid recommendations.
