The Pros and Cons of Self-Hypnosis Digital Products on CDs or MP3

Self-hypnosis can work for some

If finding your way to a hypnotist is not practical then consider a self-hypnosis digital product for getting the help you seek – here’s some tips for you.

Digital products such as CDs and MP3 can be a viable alternative to sitting down with a hypnotist to overcome a bad habit or finding ways to improve your life. These self-hypnosis products have shown a surge in popularity in the last few years because there are many individuals who would like to tap into hypnosis for help but have schedules, tight budgets, or family obligations that make it impossible to attend private sessions.

If you’re one of those people then here I look at some of the benefits and drawbacks of digital products.

Some professionals in the therapeutic field feel any type of hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The difference between the two is when you have a one-on-one session with a qualified hypnotist there is verbal communication and interaction between you and the therapist. There’s also feedback and an opportunity to ask questions that may be on your mind.

This is one of the advantages of private sessions but one of the drawbacks of using a CD or MP3. Pre-recorded sessions are generic in nature and there can be no interaction. Digital products leave no room for a change in therapeutic direction if required. Sessions are static and lecture-like.

Benefits of Self-Hypnosis Digital Products:

CD and MP3 products are more affordable and more accessible to those living in small communities where the closest city may be hours away. For example, digital products can cost in the area of $100 to $200 while attending private hypnosis sessions can cost you considerably more particularly if you require multiple sessions. This does not mean cost should be your primary decision factor as many circumstances require private counseling for hypnosis to be completely effective.

Self-hypnosis sessions that involve learning by way of CD or MP3 can be done at a time and in a setting that’s of your choosing. You can work your sessions into your schedule where you see fit. There are no appointments to book with a therapist. It’s important however, you’re disciplined enough to set aside a sufficient block of time every day to do the work. Self-hypnosis will take some time and it requires effort and a time commitment from you.

If you want to go over a past session then just pop in the CD or connect up with your MP3 player. In fact once you buy the digital products you have your own hypnotist on call any time you need them! This is very comforting to many people.

If you buy a CD product you’ll have to wait for it to arrive in the mail whereas MP3 products can be downloaded immediately to your MP3 player or iPod. Another option is to burn it directly to a CD. The other good point about these products is most carry a money-back guarantee.

Drawbacks of Self-Hypnosis Digital Products:

As far as the cons are concerned, we have already made reference to a couple of them. You must be disciplined enough to do the work you need on your own. You must be willing to put effort into it or it will not work. You also must realize that there are limits to these digital products that you would not encounter if you were in a private session with a hypnotist.

Many people buy these products but never bother to open the package. If you’re the kind of person that purchases products – any – and they tend to sit on a shelf gathering dust then don’t waste your precious money on them,  but instead take the time to research hypnotists in your area and look at your options. To work, self-hypnosis must become not just a priority but a top priority for you.

While I specialize in helping people by seeing them in my private practice in the Boston area of Massachusetts, I do offer recommended programs for those that prefer to try a self-hypnosis program initially. The most popular programs are the MP3 stop smoking program “10 Steps to Become a Non-Smoker” and the CD weight loss package “Enjoying Weight Loss.”
